Misschien heeft hij zich ingeschreven voor jouw blog. Of heeft hij een proefmonster of whitepaper aangevraagd. Wat voor een aanvraag het ook is, deze bevestig je (vaak) met een follow-up e-mail. Een follow-up e-mail lijkt in eerste instantie niet zo bijzonder. Ik merk dan ook vaak dat er niet zoveel aandacht aan wordt besteed. Een kort mailtje met een standaard bevestigingstekst lijkt voor velen voldoende. Maar is dat wel zo? Nee… helaas is dat niet voldoende. Wees je ervan bewust dat een follow-up e-mail - in de meeste gevallen - het eerste contactmoment met je online bezoeker is. Vergelijk het met een eerste indruk. De toon waarop je communiceert blijft hangen bij de ontvanger en creëert het beeld van jouw organisatie. Je wilt toch dat die eerste indruk meteen goed is?! Maar hoe behaal je meer resultaat met een follow-up e-mail? Lees snel verder.** ## Toon persoonlijkheid Het is belangrijk dat de ontvanger zich direct op zijn gemak voelt bij het lezen van jouw e-mail. Laat zien dat je geen wildvreemde bent door personalisatie toe te passen. Uit een [studie van Aberdeen](http://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/data-personalize-marketing-li) blijkt dat personalisatie de click-through rates gemiddeld verhoogt met 14 procent en de conversie met 10 procent. Een vorm van personalisatie is het versturen van een e-mail uit naam van een medewerker in plaats van vanuit een algemeen ‘info’ e-mailadres. Ook het begroeten van de ontvanger met de voornaam hoort bij personalisatie. Daarnaast kun je nog andere persoonlijke informatie toevoegen, zoals functietitel, plaatsnaam, geslacht of leeftijd. Lees hier meer over de voordelen van personalisatie. ## Bouw vertrouwen op Een goede manier voor het opbouwen van vertrouwen met je (nieuwe) contactpersoon is transparantie. Maak duidelijk wat hij kan verwachten van jou. Is dit bijvoorbeeld een eenmalige mailing of kan de potentiële klant nog meer mails verwachten? Geef belangrijke informatie, zoals: - de e-mail frequentie; - onderwerpen die aan bod kunnen komen (nieuwsbrief); - de contactmogelijkheden: hoe kunnen ze contact met je opnemen; - privacy policy - uitschrijven: hoe kunnen ze zich afmelden? Door bovenstaande informatie te geven, leg je een goede basis voor vertrouwen. Zo weet iedereen waar hij aan toe is, en dat is toch fijn? ## Geef richting Het is belangrijk dat je je lezers wegwijs maakt. Of het nou gaat om een e-book of proefmonster: geef aanvullende informatie. Bijvoorbeeld wat iemand na het lezen van een e-book weet of kan doen of hoe je het proefmonster moet gebruiken. Laat de lezer dus niet aan zijn lot over.  Probeer de lezer (lees: potentiële klant!) vast te houden door meteen een vervolgactie te communiceren. Denk aan een interessant document dat aansluit op het verstuurde e-book of een kortingscode voor het aanschaffen van de uitgeprobeerde dienst. ## Optimaliseer voor mobiele apparaten Het is misschien vanzelfsprekend, maar ik haal het toch nog even aan: responsive webdesign is belangrijk! De kans dat jouw e-mail via een telefoon of tablet wordt geopend is erg groot. Momenteel wordt 51% van de e-mails via een mobiel apparaat geopend.
