Door de komst van internet is niet alleen het aantal kanalen dat je kunt gebruiken enorm toegenomen (denk aan verzamel websites, social media en Google Adwords). Ook de waarde van ‘oude’ marketingmiddelen en -kanalen is veranderd.** ## De transformatie van dienstverlening Door de komst van internet is de dienstverlening verandert. Een voorbeeld: als jij je vroeger op een reis wilde oriënteren ging je naar het reisbureau en kwam je direct in aanraking met een dienstverlener die je tips gaf voor bestemmingen en alle opties met je besprak. Vandaag de dag geldt dat allang niet meer: als consumenten al een reisbureau inschakelen, dan is dat in een heel andere fase van het proces. De consument heeft via internet namelijk al allerlei informatie ingewonnen: welke bestemming zijn voorkeur heeft, welke bezienswaardigheden hij de moeite waard vindt en welke vliegtuigmaatschappijen en hotels interessant en betaalbaar zijn. Zo geldt dat ook voor jou als financieel dienstverlener. In veel gevallen hebben consumenten zich thuis al georiënteerd op het financiële product dat ze af willen sluiten, de verschillende smaken die er zijn en bij welke aanbieders ze terecht kunnen. Van jou als dienstverlener verwachten zij dat jij waarde toevoegt doordat jij met jouw expertise de vertaalslag maakt naar hun persoonlijke situatie. Vragen en wensen van consumenten zijn daarmee veel specifieker geworden: zij zoeken hulp bij het maken van de juiste keuze of bevestiging in hun keuze. ## De consument moet je vertrouwen >Deze transformatie in dienstverlening heeft ook invloed op de manier waarop de consument een dienstverlener kiest. Waar het vroeger vooral belangrijk was om in beeld te komen bij de consument, via bijvoorbeeld advertenties, commercials en folders of posters, heeft het nu veel meer waarde om in het oriëntatieproces van de klant in beeld te komen als een partij waar zij terecht kunnen met vragen waar zij online niet meer uitkomen. Daarin speelt, in veel grotere mate dan naamsbekendheid, ‘vertrouwen’ een rol. Je kunt je potentiële klanten helpen in hun zoektocht door hen betrouwbare content te bieden waarmee je hen daadwerkelijk helpt: informatie van waarde die jouw profileert als expert en content waarmee je vertrouwen wekt. HubSpot maakt hierin onderscheid tussen twee soorten content. Enerzijds de content die je zelf maakt en anderzijds de content die over jouw bedrijf of dienstverlening te vinden is: “Zorg ervoor dat de content die je maakt uitgaat van wat je klant nodig heeft, ook al levert je dat niet direct betalende klanten op. En laat zoveel mogelijk zelf zien hoe je bedrijf het doet ten opzichte van de concurrentie door bijvoorbeeld door te verwijzen naar een review website waarop je klanten vertellen wat ze van je dienstverlening vonden.
