Wie is dat? Wat drijft hem of haar? Wat vindt hij of zij belangrijk? Maar kun je deze vragen eigenlijk ook beantwoorden voor jezelf? Voor jouw organisatie? Uiteindelijk doen mensen zaken met mensen. En mensen willen samenwerken met bedrijven die dezelfde waarden hebben. Het is dus  belangrijk dat je begrijpt wie je klanten zijn. Maar misschien nog wel belangrijker; je moet ook begrijpen wie je als organisatie zelf bent. Dat is geen makkelijke opgave. Veel organisaties hebben moeite met het vinden van hun DNA, met dat wat hen onderscheidt van de rest. Daarom deel ik in dit blog inzichten van branding goeroe André Bisschop, die je helpen in je zoektocht naar het vinden van het DNA van jouw bedrijf.** ## Wat is bedrijfsDNA? Net als mensen hebben ook bedrijven DNA. Dat DNA is een stuk complexer, omdat het bestaat uit meerdere componenten en wordt gevormd door meerdere mensen. Die interne genetische code bepaalt wat je als bedrijf doet, waarom je doet wat je doet, waar je voor staat, hoe je functioneert en hoe je met mensen omgaat. Het DNA van je organisatie zit in: - Je heritage; - het gedrag van mensen; - het werk; - de processen; - communicatie; - visie; - en de positie in de samenleving.  ## Hoe vind je jouw bedrijfsDNA? Veel bedrijven die zoeken naar hun bedrijfsDNA, zetten de directie en het MarCom team een middagje in een kamer en hopen na die sessie hun onderscheidend vermogen op papier te hebben staan. Huge mistake! Je kunt bijvoorbeeld denken dat je ontzettend vernieuwend bent, dat dat zelfs dé eigenschap is waarmee je klanten voor je wint. Er is alleen één probleem: niemand anders denkt er zo over. Het is heel verleidelijk om je eigen oordeel voor waar aan te nemen. Maar het is minstens zo belangrijk om te begrijpen hoe anderen jou zien. Pas dan kom je er achter wat jouw organisatie écht onderscheidt. Het vinden van jouw bedrijfsDNA begint dus met gesprekken: met het management, maar ook met medewerkers uit je hele organisatie. Vraag ook de mening van je klanten. De fijne klanten, de vervelende klanten, de ontevreden klanten en de vrolijke klanten. Voel je niet bezwaard om feedback te vragen. In de meeste gevallen vinden klanten het juist fijn om te vertellen en om mee te denken! Ben ook niet bang voor kritiek. Die feedback is namelijk heel waardevol voor de benodigde 'DNA hacks': als je inzicht hebt in wie je bent, weet je ook waar je kunt verbeteren.  ## Lastige vragen Als je je klanten aan de tand hebt gevoeld, is het tijd om jezelf een aantal lastige vragen voor te leggen. Het zijn lastige vragen, omdat veel organisaties er niet 123 een antwoord op hebben. Een aantal voorbeelden: - Waarom zijn we hiermee begonnen? - Wat zouden klanten missen als wij niet meer zouden bestaan? - Wat voegen wij toe (in vergelijking met onze concurrenten)? - Als we morgen opnieuw zouden beginnen, wat doen we dan anders? Veel organisaties denken en praten vooral over het 'wat' en het 'hoe' van wat ze doen. Bovenstaande vragen helpen je om na te denken over het 'waarom'. Want het is dat 'waarom' waarmee je mensen raakt, waarmee mensen een gevoel krijgen bij je organisatie. ## Het DNA van je bedrijf als sterke basis voor groei Als je jouw unieke code weet te kraken, heb je een sterke basis voor groei van je bedrijf. Je profiteert er namelijk op talloze vlakken van: van marketing tot sales en van recruitment tot bedrijfscultuur. Het bedrijfsDNA is de basis voor: - **Je missie, visie en kernwaarden**. Zorg dat je écht onderscheidende kernwaarden formuleert. - **Het [merkverhaal](https://www.brightdigital.com/nl/blog/wat-is-een-merkverhaal-en-wat-is-het-nut-ervan) en je positionering**. Waar je voor staat, je belofte, is de basis van je positionering. Vertel het verhaal van je organisatie zo helder mogelijk.  - **Medewerkertevredenheid**. De medewerkers bepalen voor het grootste deel het DNA van jouw organisatie. Neem ze serieus en betrek ze bij alles wat je doet.  - **Recruitment**. Met een sterk merkverhaal weet je ook de juiste medewerkers aan te trekken die passen binnen de cultuur van jouw organisatie. - **Menselijke marketing**.
