Het percentage bezoekers dat overgaat tot zo’n actie wordt uitgedrukt in de conversion rate.** In dit blog vertellen we meer over conversies en de conversion rate. Daarnaast gaan we in op manieren om de conversion rate te optimaliseren. Dit laatste proces wordt ook wel *conversion rate optimization* genoemd.   ## **Wat is CRO?** CRO staat voor conversion rate optimization. Door naar de CRO te kijken, bereken je de mate van conversie. Hiermee wordt het verhogen van het aantal bezoekers dat op een website een product koopt of een dienst afneemt bedoeld. Data uit het CRM en marketing systeem kunnen helpen om bij te houden hoeveel bezoekers een website trekt en hoeveel bezoekers overgaan tot de gewenste actie. Voor CRO is echter meer nodig: het bedrijf moet begrijpen wat de bezoekers aantrekt, interesseert, tegenhoudt en aanzet tot acties. Zo kan een bedrijf websitebezoekers de best mogelijke ervaring geven op hun website.   ## **Hoe bereken je de conversion rate?** De ‘conversie’ is het aantal websitebezoekers dat overgaat tot de gewenste actie, zoals het kopen van een product of het afnemen van een dienst. De *conversie **rate* kun je gemakkelijk berekenen. Dit doe je door het aantal conversies door het totale aantal bezoekers te delen en de uitkomst keer honderd te doen.  - Een voorbeeld: de website van jouw organisatie trekt elke maand tweehonderd bezoekers, waarvan twintig bezoekers jouw product kopen. Dan is de *conversie** **rate*: 20 / 200 x 100 = 10 procent.  Over het algemeen ligt de *conversion** **rate* tussen de 1 en 4 procent. Een *conversion** **rate* 10 procent of hoger wordt erg hoog gevonden. Maar wat echt een goede *conversion** **rate* is, is natuurlijk afhankelijk van de doelstellingen van jouw bedrijf.   ## **Waar moet je bij CRO op letten?** Voor CRO is het dus nuttig om niet alleen naar de statistieken te kijken, maar ook naar de mensen achter de statistieken. Het uiteindelijke doel is conversie, maar voordat conversie plaatsvindt, vinden vele andere stappen plaats. Bezoekers moeten immers eerst op zoek gaan naar jouw product of dienst voordat ze op jouw website belanden. Daarna moeten ze door jouw website navigeren. Dan moeten zij nog enthousiast worden over jouw product of dienst en overgaan tot aankoop. Waar haken bezoekers af, waar klikken ze vaak op, waar zoeken ze op? Door dit soort vragen te beantwoorden krijg je een beter beeld van de websitebezoekers. Website [bezoekers achterhalen](https://www.brightdigital.com/nl/kenniscentrum/meer-leads-dankzij-website-bezoekers-achterhalen) door middel van IP-tracking kan hierbij helpen.   > Voor CRO is het dus nuttig om niet alleen naar de statistieken te kijken, maar ook naar de mensen achter de statistieken.   Soms is het redelijk eenvoudig om vast te stellen waar bezoekers afhaken, bijvoorbeeld wanneer blijkt dat vijftig procent van de websitebezoekers de website verlaat bij het invullen van een bepaald formulier. Het aanpassen of verwijderen van dit formulier kan je zo veel conversie opleveren. Maar meestal ligt het ingewikkelder en functioneert de website goed, trekt de website veel bezoekers, maar vindt toch weinig conversie plaats. Dan ligt CRO een stuk ingewikkelder.           ## **Conversion rate optimization toepassen** De focus ligt dus zowel op statistieken, als op de zoektocht naar de gedachtegang van de klant. Maar waar moet je nog meer aan denken wanneer je de conversion rate wilt optimaliseren? Er zijn een aantal manieren om CRO toe te passen, zoals:   1. Het verminderen van moeilijke vragen en formulieren, het weergeven van recensies en door de belangrijke knoppen (zoals ‘contact’, ‘over ons’ en ‘diensten’) goed zichtbaar maken; 2. Rekening houden met SEO, de *search engine **optimization*. Dit is de vindbaarheid van jouw website in zoekmachines zoals Google. De SEO waarde kun je vergroten door bijvoorbeeld (geregeld) kwalitatieve content te plaatsen en te bekijken op welke zoektermen potentiële klanten zoeken; 3. Het toepassen van sterke *online* *advertising*, dit kan helpen om de vindbaarheid en conversie te vergroten; 4. Rekening houden met de wensen, interesses en gedachtegang van jouw doelgroep.
