Veel bedrijven weten dat het belangrijk is om e-mails te versturen en hun e-maillijst effectief te laten groeien. Echter halen de meeste bedrijven nog niet het meeste uit hun e-mailmarketing strategie. In dit blog vertel ik je meer over e-mailmarketing versus marketing automation, leer je wat het verschil is en waarom het belangrijk is om in marketing automation te investeren.** ## Definitie e-mailmarketing en marketing automation [E-mailmarketing](https://www.newsletter2go.nl/functies/nieuwsbrief-software/) houdt in dat e-mails naar een contactenlijst worden gestuurd. Dit kunnen nieuwsbrieven met aanbiedingen, promoties of nieuwe ontwikkelingen zijn. Deze worden vervolgens eenmalig en vaak naar de gehele contactenlijst met een enkele personalisering gestuurd. Marketing automation gaat iets nauwkeuriger te werk. Bij deze geautomatiseerde e-mails gaat het niet om een eenmalige nieuwsbrief, maar wordt er rekening gehouden met tal van factoren om te zorgen dat de e-mail een hogere relevantie voor de ontvanger heeft. Bij marketing automation worden e-mails aan de hand van zogenaamde triggers zoals het gedrag van de klant of zijn of haar activiteiten gestuurd. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan een welkomstmail na een registratie, een felicitatie bij de verjaardag van de ontvanger of een automatische bestelbevestiging. Niet alleen hebben dit soort e-mails een veel hogere openratio omdat de timing en waarde voor de ontvanger veel relevanter is, de mogelijkheden voor bedrijven zijn tevens stukken veelzijdiger dan bij klassieke e-mailmarketing. ## Waarom marketing automation een must is E-mailmarketing op zichzelf was lange tijd voor veel bedrijven als marketingstrategie voldoende, maar die tijden zijn veranderd. Door de opkomst van het verzenden van nieuwsbrieven en de vele e-mails die dagelijks verzonden worden, zijn ontvangers veel selectiever geworden in welke e-mails wel en niet geopend worden. Een klassieke nieuwsbrief heeft kans op succes, maar marketing automation is waar de grootste kans op succes zich bevindt. Maar waarom wil je als bedrijf eigenlijk gebruik maken van marketing automation? 1. Normale e-mailmarketing vergt meer tijd, marketing automation is tijdbesparend. Je hoeft namelijk slechts één keer de e-mail met de variabele personalisaties of triggers op te stellen en vervolgens wordt deze automatisch op het juiste moment naar de ontvanger gestuurd. 2. De waarde van de e-mail is veel hoger bij marketing automation dan bij klassieke e-mails. Dit komt mede door de timing en perfecte aansluiting op het gedrag of de activiteit van de ontvanger. 3. De mogelijkheden zijn veelbelovend. Het is bijvoorbeeld al mogelijk om het koopgedrag van de klant te volgen en een inzicht te krijgen in de interesses van ontvangers. Dit is slechts een voorproefje van wat we in de toekomst kunnen traceren. Doordat marketing automation zich constant ontwikkelt, is het handig om je nu al bekend te maken met het concept van automatische e-mails. 4. Met marketing automation kun je je bedrijf effectief laten groeien. Doordat de e-mails automatisch worden verstuurd, werk je constant aan het klantencontact zonder zelf veel tijd te spenderen aan het opstellen van nieuwsbrieven. 5. Plus, door de minimale tijd die je aan de marketing automation besteedt, blijft er meer tijd over om de ontvangersgroepen nog nauwkeuriger te segmenteren en analyseren. ## Is marketing automation software noodzakelijk? Ja! Zonder een nieuwsbrief software met marketing automation functies wordt het erg lastig om het proces op te zetten. Door de automatisch getriggerde verzending worden de e-mails precies dan verstuurd wanneer de ontvanger een bepaalde handeling uitvoert of een gedrag vertoont. Dit is iets wat handmatig lastig uit te voeren is. Daarnaast kun je met de juiste marketing automation software precies nagaan wat de bestelgeschiedenis van een ontvanger is en hoe de keuze tot stand is gekomen. Al deze gegevens kunnen gebruikt worden voor doelgerichte automation e-mails. ## Conclusie Marketing automation een goed idee? Ja! Hoewel het proces ingewikkeld is en het best een uitdaging kan zijn om de ontvangers te segmenteren en de e-mails correct op te stellen, is het gebruiken van marketing automation zeker de moeite waard. Plus, als je nu al het proces uitgevogeld hebt, is het stukken eenvoudiger om later met de opkomende marketing automation trends bij te blijven. Marketing automation softwares helpen je bij het proces en zorgen ervoor dat je openratio en e-mailmarketing succes aanzienlijk toeneemt. Gebruik jij al marketing automation?
