**Het klinkt als een open deur en dat is het misschien ook wel, maar je klanten goed kennen is essentieel voor succesvolle online marketing en verkoop. En vergis je niet: je kan nog zo’n helder beeld denken te hebben van je klant, de kans dat jouw collega een hele andere omschrijving geeft is heel groot.**

Bij content marketing draait om het helpen van je potentiële klanten in plaats van het pushen of promoten van je producten. Daarmee vergroot je de (online) betrokkenheid van je doelgroep op je bedrijf. Maar om te kunnen helpen, is het het essentieel om te weten waar jouw klanten te vinden zijn, hoe ze zoeken en waar zij hulp bij nodig hebben. En daar een goede inschatting van maken lukt alleen als je kunt werken met goed inzicht in je klantprofiel.

## 5 inzichten die belangrijk zijn bij je buyer persona

In de online marketing wordt daarom gewerkt met [buyer persona’s](https://www.brightdigital.com/nl/kenniscentrum/buyer-persona); fictieve, uitgebreide omschrijvingen van je ideale klant. Een buyer persona kan je helpen meer begrip te krijgen voor het gedrag van je klanten en om je collega’s te ondersteunen in het realiseren van content voor je doelgroep. Maar daarvoor moet je een buyer persona zo specifiek mogelijk uitwerken. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan algemene informatie:

- Naam
- Leeftijd
- Gezinssamenstelling
- Woonsituatie
- Werk en opleiding

Maar belangrijker nog dan deze demografische gegevens is het beantwoorden van 5 cruciale vragen:

1. Wat zijn de persoonlijke doelen en uitdagingen van je buyer persona?
2. Wat vindt je buyer persona belangrijk?
3. Waar haalt je buyer persona informatie vandaan (zowel ter ontspanning als praktisch)?
4. Wat zijn de barrières van je buyer persona?
5. Op basis waarvan neemt je buyer persona beslissingen?

## Hoger rendement op online marketing

Kortom: werk je buyer persona zo gedetailleerd mogelijk uit. Dat kost je best wat tijd en energie. Maar het loont zeker de moeite. Want elke volgende blog die je schrijft, elke Facebook-post die je maakt of elke video die je opneemt zal daardoor beter gericht zijn op de behoefte van jouw klant. En dat zorgt er mede voor dat je online marketing doelgerichter én succesvoller is. Uit onderzoek van MarketingSherpa blijkt zelfs dat een marketingstrategie met gerichte persona’s leidt tot een toename in sales leads van 124%.

## Succes zit in draagvlak

Het succes van buyer persona’s staat of valt met het draagvlak dat je ervoor creëert binnen je organisatie:

- Betrek je medewerkers bij de ontwikkeling van je buyer persona.
- Geef de buyer persona’s een gezicht door een foto toe te voegen.
- Zorg dat evt. Sales, marketing en managementafdelingen de buyer persona ondersteunen.
