Deze afdeling functioneert op het koppelvlak van marketing en sales; waar marketing verantwoordelijk is voor het genereren van leads en sales verantwoordelijk voor het opvolgen ervan, zit inside sales precies daar tussenin. Er is veel te halen wanneer je de afdeling inside sales optimaliseert. In deze blog geven we daar 4 stappen voor. ** ## Het belang van inside sales Inside sales-medewerkers kwalificeren leads, vormen meestal het eerste contact met potentiële klanten, plannen afspraken in voor de buitendienst en borgen belangrijke prospectinformatie in CRM-systemen en sales-software. ** **Inside sales is dus veel meer dan de traditionele verkoopbinnendienst die offertes uitwerkt, facturen inboekt en potentiële klanten lastigvalt met cold calling. Want bij zowel [**Inbound Marketing**](https://www.brightdigital.com/onze-diensten/inbound-marketing) als [**Inbound Sales**](https://www.brightdigital.com/onze-diensten/inbound-sales) staat de customer journey van de potentiële klant centraal. Dit betekent dat sales pas met een prospect in contact dient te treden wanneer deze daar klaar voor is en er voor openstaat. Het kwalificeren van hoe sales-ready een prospect is, is daarom van groot belang in de Inbound-filosofie. En dat is waar inside sales de hoofdrol speelt. ## Het optimaliseren van je inside sales Gezien de sleutelpositie van je inside sales team in jouw organisatie is het absoluut de moeite waard om te zoeken naar optimalisatiekansen. Er zijn daarbij 4 acties te onderscheiden om je inside sales te verbeteren. 1. Omschrijf het salesproces 2. Maak een Service Level Agreement 3. Werf de juiste mensen 4. Automatiseer ## Verbeteractie #1: Omschrijf het Salesproces Voordat je überhaupt kunt beginnen aan het optimaliseren van inside sales, heb je allereerst inzicht nodig in de huidige situatie. Hoe verloopt het salesproces op dit moment? Dus vanaf het overdragen van een lead door marketing tot aan het closen van een deal? Welke acties worden binnen dit proces gedaan door marketing, inside sales en sales? Het vastleggen van dit proces in een Sales Blueprint kan hierbij helpen. En inside sales dobbert daar een beetje tussenin. Dit kan veel effectiever georganiseerd worden door gezamenlijke doelstellingen af te spreken voor marketing, sales én inside sales. Wees in deze doelstellingen helder wie voor welke actie verantwoordelijk is. Dit geheel van afspraken kan het beste vastgelegd worden in een Service Level Agreement (SLA) tussen alle teamleden van marketing, sales en inside sales. Zo weet iedereen wat zijn of haar rol is, wat er van hem/haar verwacht wordt en wat er van de anderen verwacht kan worden. Een heldere SLA zet elk teamlid, en zeker de inside sales-medewerker, in zijn kracht. Het geeft focus en maakt het totaalplaatje, waar inside sales een onmisbaar onderdeel van is, kristalhelder. Het is een spilfunctie tussen marketing en sales met ook nog het nodige directe klantcontact. Dit alles vergt de nodige vaardigheden van een inside sales-medewerker. Deze persoon moet zowel het marketing- als het sales-vak begrijpen en het grotere belang van beide afdelingen zien. Daarnaast zijn goede sociale vaardigheden, empathisch vermogen en klantgerichtheid noodzakelijk. Tot slot moet er commercieel besef bij deze personen zijn. Inside sales gaat voor een groot deel om het plaatsen van de juiste poppetjes op de juiste plaats. ## Verbeteractie #4: Automatiseer sales-taken  Wanneer in stap 2 een Service Level Agreement is afgesproken tussen marketing, inside sales en sales, is het aan te raden om deze afdelingen in een uniforme softwaretool te laten werken waarin zowel leads, klantinfo, taken, offertes, Deal Stages en analytics worden geborgd. Door ook inside sales te laten werken met een gebruiksvriendelijke tool die klantinfo borgt en de leadstatus van prospects direct inzichtelijk maakt, wordt het complete salesproces efficiënter. Zorg dat administratieve taken als het loggen van inkomende en uitgaande mails en calls geautomatiseerd worden en maak data makkelijk beschikbaar.
