What is evergreen content?
Evergreen content is content that lasts a long time and remains relevant to your readers. Evergreen content is often associated with pillar pages. This is an all-encompassing page on a particular topic and has a high value to the reader. When a pillar page is executed well, the page will have a higher chance of achieving a good position in the search engines.
According to HubSpot, you may call content evergreen if it meets the following three requirements:
1. It is timeless
By this we mean that the content will still be relevant in, say, one or two years from now. Thus, a blog article that caters to a current topic or deals with trends of the past year does not fall under evergreen content.
2. Valuable and high quality
It is very important that your content actually offers value to the reader. Producing this kind of content is often time-consuming, but investing in quality content definitely pays off in the end.
3. It's well put together
With evergreen content, you clearly distinguish yourself as an expert in your field. The content should be well put together and very detailed.
Since the content continues to bring you traffic over a longer period of time, it is advisable to maintain it periodically. This way you keep it up-to-date.
