What is interactive content?

What is interactive content?

There are several ways to define interactive content. We ourselves distinguish between interactive and normal content when you ask the visitor to participate in the content themselves.

For example, instead of just offering a blog post or e-book, you ask the visitor to participate in a quiz or poll. Because this makes the visitor actively engaged with your content, you manage to hold his or her attention longer.

Why interactive content?

It offers many advantages over content consisting only of text, images and videos. In our opinion, the following three advantages are the most important:

1. You attract attention through distinctive content

To be found in the sea of content, it is increasingly important these days to be able to stand out from the rest.

Using interactive content is one way to do this. By adding interactive elements, you give your visitors an experience they are unlikely to find on other pages. Research by Content Marketing Institute found that 81% of participants felt that you attract attention better with interactive content than with static content.

2. You keep visitors on your website longer

Do you have a high bounce rate because a large proportion of your visitors leave your website quickly after a visit? Then using interactive content is one way to do something about it.

By inviting your visitors to participate in the content themselves, they will stay longer on your website. You prevent them from just scrolling through the text, and leaving your page right away.

3. You get to know your target group better

Besides the fact that interactive content helps you stand out and keeps visitors on your website longer, it also gives you a great opportunity to gather data about your target audience.

For example, if you use a poll tactically, and ask the right questions, you yourself can get a good insight into how your target audience thinks about certain things. Calculators or assessments can be used in the same way. To automatically give a recommendation to the person filling them out, you need to collect initial data. These can offer you good insights.

So you actually kill two birds with one stone. More visitors who stay on your website for a longer period of time and data that allows you to get to know your target audience better.

Types of interaction content

To give you an idea of the possibilities offered by interactive content, we have collected a number of types.

Interactive infographic

An infographic is a hugely popular form of content marketing. It allows you to convey a message in a visual way.

By making the infographic interactive, you go one step further. For example, you can make certain elements clickable to hold your visitor's attention even longer.
