Voor grote internationale ondernemingen - zoals bijvoorbeeld Apple, Coca Cola en McDonalds - is merkwaarde een cruciale factor die voortdurend wordt gemonitord en geëvalueerd. Een bureau als Interbrand heeft zelfs een methodologie ontwikkeld om merkwaarde te bepalen, die ISO-gecertificeerd is. Als eigenaar van een relatief kleine MKB-onderneming ben ik zelf altijd in de veronderstelling geweest dat merkwaarde alleen relevant is voor bovengenoemde grote organisaties. Totdat ik onlangs - tijdens mijn vakantie - het boek "[Fundamentals of Branding](http://www.amazon.com/The-Fundamentals-Branding-Melissa-Davis/dp/2940373981)" las.  Tijdens het lezen van dit boek, besefte ik dat [merkwaarde ook van belang is voor MKB](https://www.brightdigital.com/nl/blog/5-redenen-waarom-een-sterk-merk-waardevol-is-voor-b2b-bedrijven) ondernemers en/of -marketeers die zich bezig houden met moderne marketing. De vragen die bestuurders en marketeers van grote ondernemingen zichzelf volgens dit boek moeten stellen om de waarde van hun merk te bepalen, zijn wat mij betreft ook nuttig voor MKB-ers. Zeker omdat je ze niet op een wetenschappelijke manier hoeft te beantwoorden. Meer ter inspiratie of als input voor een klantenonderzoek.

In dit artikel zet ik deze vragen kort en bondig op een rijtje.

## Invloed van je merk

- Wat zijn de redenen waarom mensen je merk kiezen en geloven?
- Wat zijn de sterke punten die mensen je merk toedichten?
- Zijn er producten die extra bijdragen aan de waarde en identiteit van je merk?
- Welke status heeft je merk bij je verschillende doelgroepen?

## Communicatie 

- Hoe word je merk gecommuniceerd in je campagnes?
- Wat zijn je meest effectieve campagnes geweest in het recente verleden?
- Herinneren mensen zich de boodschap of de [call-to-action](https://www.brightdigital.com/nl/blog/wat-is-een-goede-call-to-action) nog?
- Wat zijn de merkwaarden die mensen je onderneming toedichten?

## Onderscheidend vermogen 

- Kunnen mensen je merk onderscheiden van concurrenten?
- Hoe zien mensen je merk ten opzichte van je directe concurrenten?
- Is je merk onderscheidend?
- Verwisselen mensen je merk met de concurrentie?

## Leiderschap

- Zijn er bepaalde persoonlijkheden binnen je onderneming, die opvallen?
- Is het merk opgebouwd rondom een bepaalde persoonlijkheid?
- Als dat zo is, levert dat een mogelijk risico op voor je merk?

## Innovatie

- Vinden mensen bepaalde producten/diensten, die je levert innovatief?
- Kunnen deze innovaties gebruikt worden om nieuwe markten te betreden?

##  Duurzaamheid

- Beschikt je merk over een onderliggende duurzaamheid strategie die rekening houdt met de sociale en omgevingsinvloeden gedurende de levensloop van je merk?
- Moet deze strategie worden gecommuniceerd naar de buitenwereld?

## Online positionering

- Heeft je merk een sterke online aanwezigheid?
- Bestaan er online communities die je merk ondersteunen?
- Worden er negatieve online campagnes gevoerd tegen je merk?

## Interne beleving

- Worden je merkwaarden intern gedragen door je medewerkers?
- Wat is de interne perceptie van je merk ten opzichte van die van je concurrenten?
- Worden de merkrichtlijnen opgevolgd?

Nogmaals wil ik benadrukken dat deze lijst je geen exacte formule geeft voor het kwantificeren van je merkwaarde. In mijn ogen kunnen deze vragen je wel bewust maken van het belang van je merk, of je organisatie nu groot of klein is.
