Realistisch gezien zal een beperkt deel van de mensen die in aanraking komt met een van je Inbound Marketing activiteiten direct een lead worden. Misschien is de potentiële klant met andere dingen bezig of zijn ze er nog niet klaar voor. Dit betekent echter niet dat het tijdsverspilling is om jouw bedrijf bij hen onder de aandacht te brengen. Het zou namelijk goed kunnen dat ze in de (directe) toekomst jouw diensten wèl goed kunnen gebruiken. In dit blogartikel bespreek ik hoe je *top of mind awareness* kunt creëren met behulp van Inbound Marketing. Daarbij speelt herhaling een grote rol.** ## Top of mind awareness Top of mind awareness is een vorm van brand awareness. Bij top of mind awareness gaat het niet om recognition (herkenning) maar om recall (herinnering) van een merk. Als je top of mind awareness hebt gecreëerd bij jouw potentiële klanten, is de kans groter dat zij als eerste aan jouw bedrijf of merk denken als zij een product of dienst nodig hebben. Door deze naamsbekendheid ben je de concurrent een stap voor. ## Hoe verkrijg je naamsbekendheid via social media? Bij Inbound Marketing gaat het om content creëren en delen. Dit doe je onder andere door interessante content te delen via social media als Facebook en Twitter en door blogartikelen te publiceren. Wat kan het actief bijhouden van een [social media ](https://www.brightdigital.com/nl/blog/social-media-voor-b2b-bedrijven-10-ideeen)account voor jouw bedrijf betekenen? Je kunt continu berichten verspreiden die bij je volgers in de timeline zullen verschijnen. Jouw bedrijfsnaam staat steeds boven die berichten en volgers zullen die naam dus ook keer op keer voorbij zien komen. Dit zorgt voor naamsbekendheid en kan ervoor zorgen dat je top of mind bent bij je volgers. Als zij op een zeker moment op zoek zijn naar een product of dienst zullen zij eerder aan jouw bedrijfsnaam denken dan aan een concurrent. Hieronder leg ik uit welke psychologische processen hier bij meespelen. ## Herhaling leidt tot herinnering Waarschijnlijk kreeg je het op de middelbare school al te horen: als je die Franse woorden een paar keer herhaalt, onthoud je ze beter. Dit heeft alles te maken met het opslaan van informatie in ons geheugen. Een woord wordt eerst opgevangen door je zintuiglijk geheugen. Als het van belang is wordt het opgeslagen in het korte-termijngeheugen. Eenmaal in het korte-termijngeheugen zorgt het herhalend opnoemen of zien van het woordje ervoor dat je deze niet vergeet. Als je dit vaker en langer doet, krijgt het woord een plek in je lange-termijngeheugen. ## Je doelgroep onthoudt jouw naam Zo werkt het natuurlijk ook met bedrijfsnamen. Je ziet de naam, slaat het op in je korte-termijngeheugen maar zonder herhaling vergeet je de naam weer. Social media kunnen ervoor zorgen dat jouw bedrijfsnaam of merk steeds opnieuw wordt gezien door de potentiële klant. Door deze herhaling slaat de [potentiële klant](https://www.brightdigital.com/nl/blog/conversational-marketing-zo-kom-je-in-gesprek-met-potentiele-klanten) jouw bedrijfsnaam uiteindelijk op in zijn of haar lange-termijngeheugen. Dit maakt het voor hen makkelijker om jouw bedrijfsnaam te herinneren en naar boven te halen. ## Naamsbekendheid is voor ieder bedrijf van belang Naamsbekendheid is voor elk bedrijf belangrijk. Zo ook bijvoorbeeld voor schildersbedrijf X. Wanneer schildersbedrijf X namelijk actief is op Twitter, zien volgers de bedrijfsnaam vaak voorbij komen op de timeline. Op een zeker moment heeft de volger een schilder nodig. Hij of zij denkt dan meteen aan schildersbedrijf X van Twitter. Schildersbedrijf X is namelijk opgeslagen in zijn lange-termijngeheugen en daardoor top of mind. Zo zie je dat je met behulp van Inbound Marketing ook op lange termijn leads kun genereren. ## Hoe vaak herhalen? Hoe vaak je bedrijfsnaam of merk herhaald moet worden om onthouden te worden hangt af van verschillende factoren. Zo speelt de naam van het bedrijf of merk zelf een rol. Bestaat de naam uit vaak voorkomende Engelse of Nederlandse woorden, of juist uit niet bestaande of niet vaak voorkomende woorden (*Tefal*)? De laatste zal vaker herhaald moeten worden omdat het nieuwe woord eerst “geleerd” moet worden. Ook de context waarin de naam staat speelt een rol. Aanwijzingen in de context over de betekenis van de woorden in de naam helpen bij het onthouden van de naam. In de praktijk betekent dit dat je Tweets of Facebook posts voor jouw bedrijf relevante content moeten bevatten. Ook de interesses van de lezer spelen een rol. Een geïnteresseerde lezer zal minder herhaling nodig hebben dan een minder geïnteresseerde lezer.
