What is the conversion rate?

A conversion occurs when a visitor to your page does exactly what you want him or her to do on that page. The goal of your page is then achieved.

A representative way to analyze the conversion on a page is to look at the conversion rate. That is, you look at how many conversions were generated in relation to the number of visits.

With the conversion rate, you can see which pages are most conversion-oriented which are successful and which are not. Then you analyze what the success factors of the page are and apply these factors to all pages.

Divide the number of conversions from a given page by the number of visits to that page, then multiply that by 100.

Alternative way to generate more conversions

Improving conversion rate is a great way to increase conversions on your website, but it's certainly not the only way.

To generate conversions, you need traffic on your landing pages (your conversion pages). One feature of landing pages is that they are usually short but powerful. The downside of this is that there are few SEO opportunities on these pages. Blog articles and knowledge pages generate many more of these opportunities and generally bring in much more traffic from Google.

One method to drive more traffic to your landing pages is a call to action (CTA). When you improve the effectiveness of a CTA it sends more traffic to your landing pages where the conversion occurs. When this traffic is also relevant traffic, then the number of conversions will increase.

The effectiveness of CTAs is measured by the click through rate (CTR). The higher the CTR, the more traffic the CTA sends to your landing pages.
