Bijvoorbeeld in de Instagram biografie van modebloggers of op het Twitter profiel van een IT-bedrijf. In het bedrijfsleven wordt de term meestal vertaald naar kennisleider. Kun je jezelf dan zomaar een kennisleider noemen? Bepalen andere mensen niet of zij jou als beïnvloeder beschouwen? Ik ben eens in dat fenomeen gedoken. Want wat is kennisleiderschap eigenlijk en hoe word je als bedrijf een kennisleider in je vakgebied?** ## Wat is een kennisleider? Kennisleiders of beïnvloeders zijn mensen of bedrijven die als autoriteit of trendsetter worden beschouwd door anderen (uit hetzelfde vakgebied). Kennisleiderschap uit zich bijvoorbeeld in het aantal social media volgers, voorkomen in mond-tot-mond reclame en genoemd worden in vakbladen. Dat levert meer aandacht voor je onderneming op en – als de juiste mensen je die aandacht geven – groei van je bedrijf. Je hebt natuurlijk wereldwijd bekende kennisleiders, maar voor jouw onderneming ligt de uitdaging waarschijnlijk in de nichemarkt waarin je opereert. ## Hoe ontstaat kennisleiderschap? Waarom worden sommige bedrijven als kennisleider beschouwd? Ze hebben expertise, autoriteit en lopen voorop in hun vak. Bovendien kunnen ze dat met [statistieken](https://www.brightdigital.com/nl/blog/26-statistieken-die-niet-mogen-ontbreken-in-je-marketing-rapport) of op basis van klantverhalen onderbouwen. Maar om kennisleider te worden, heb je volgers nodig die jouw informatie waarderen en die komen niet vanzelf. Hoe ontstaat die achterban dan? Het werkt zo: onze hersenen zijn geprogrammeerd om aandacht te verdelen. We kunnen niet naar álle ‘zenders’ luisteren die ons hun boodschap willen sturen. Daarom selecteren we er een aantal van waarvan we vinden dat zij de leukste, betrouwbaarste of meest vernieuwende en relevante informatie bieden. Dat doet iedereen voor zichzelf, maar we kijken wel bij elkaar af om te zien wie de ander volgt. Dat laatste is nu heel gemakkelijk dankzij social media. Bovendien veranderen onze voorkeuren, soms snel maar vaak genoeg ook traag. Ga maar eens na welke personen of bedrijven jij al een tijdje of pas sinds kort volgt.  ## Hoe word je een kennisleider? Kennisleiderschap ontstaat vanwege een wisselwerking tussen de informatie die jij zendt en de mening van het publiek hierover. Het gaat erom dat jij precies kunt bieden wat jouw volgers zoeken. Als je je publiek blijft aanspreken, dan ontstaat de kans dat zij jou niet alleen willen volgen, maar je zelfs gaan promoten. Bijvoorbeeld door anderen te adviseren jouw LinkedIn Company Page te volgen, zich te abonneren op je blog of door jouw tweets te retweeten! Zodra dat ontstaat, mag je jezelf langzaamaan een kennisleider gaan noemen. Hier zijn dus wel een aantal voorwaarden aan verbonden: - Je content spreekt een gerichte doelgroep aan - Je kunt je autoriteit of expertise onderbouwen/bewijzen - Je publiceert content in allerlei vormen, op diverse platformen en via verschillende kanalen - Jouw content nodigt uit tot delen en is hier ook geschikt voor Aantrekkelijke en makkelijk deelbare content die je doelgroep aanspreekt, levert je als ondernemer volgers op die stuk voor stuk potentiële klanten kunnen zijn.  ## Wie is jouw publiek? In al het bovenstaande ontbreekt nog één ding: wie is die doelgroep, dat publiek dan? Voordat je begint met het maken, publiceren en actief delen van je content, moet je erachter zien te komen wie [jouw doelgroep](https://www.brightdigital.com/nl/blog/buyer-personas-creeren-geef-antwoord-op-deze-vragen) is. Wat willen deze mensen zien, lezen en horen en waar zoeken zij naar die informatie? Zolang je jouw publiek niet duidelijk voor ogen hebt, blijft kennisleiderschap een vaag, onbereikbaar begrip. Doe dus altijd onderzoek naar je ideale publiek voordat je aan de slag gaat om jouw onderneming als kennisleider in de markt te zetten.  ## Vind jij jezelf een kennisleider? Beschouw jij jouw onderneming als kennisleider in het vakgebied? Of valt er nog heel wat te behalen als het gaat om bekendheid? Een goede contentstrategie kan je helpen om het kennisleiderschap te bereiken.
