As of Sept. 18, 2024, HubSpot will stop supporting HubSpot Insights and introduce Intent Data Access (Buyer Intent). As of December 1, 2024, this setting will be enabled by default in every portal.
What is HubSpot Insights?
HubSpot Insights has long been in use to automatically populate company information such as name and address information, phone number, website, LinkedIn and more in HubSpot. This database, built from third-party data, web crawling and crowdsourcing, provides real-time updates to the company map as soon as new information is available. Learn more about what data is automatically added at the company level at this link.
Meet Buyer Intent as of December 1, 2024
Buyer Intent gives you insight into which companies are visiting your website, based on IP addresses. You can create your ideal customer profile (ICP), and HubSpot uses the tracking code to identify and match relevant website visitors with potential customers. Detailed instructions on how to set this up can be viewed here.
Keep in mind that the data collected, such as IP addresses and general visitor information, also enriches other HubSpot portals. This is only anonymized, non-sensitive data that complies with the AVG, without sharing specific company or customer information. For more information about the data collected, see this article from HubSpot.
Buyer Intent on or off?
If you take no action, data sharing for Buyer Intent will automatically be turned on December 1, 2024.
Of course, HubSpot always respects your privacy choices and you have full control over your settings. You can easily adjust your preferences through HubSpot Settings by enabling or disabling the Buyer Intent Data Access option.
